Know that there are many countries that offer opportunities for employment to immigrants, but few offer the depth and breadth of opportunities combined with the unparalleled beauty of New Zealand. There are two primary options for migrant workers in New Zealand – working under a temporary student visa, or getting a job in a high demand area.

Getting a Temporary Job

Know that if you are a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand, you must have a work visa to get a temporary job in New Zealand. These temporary jobs are favorites of students, back packers, and others that are looking for an opportunity to travel and see the world with out having a bankroll. Know that the government of New Zealand has in place agreements with several countries to grant temporary employment visas to those looking for short term employment. Not everyone is can apply for the temporary visa, or a working holiday permit – you must meet the following conditions.
  • You must be a citizen of one of the following countries – Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Singapore, Taiwan, UK or the USA
  • You must be between 18 and 30 years of age

  • Hold a return ticket or have the funds for a return ticket

  • Have no children accompanying you on the trip

  • Have a current passport

  • Have some funds for maintenance while in New Zealand

  • Be enrolled in a comprehensive medical insurance program while in New Zealand

  • Convince the New Zealand government that your intention is to only stay in New Zealand for a brief visit

Temporary jobs are the ideal solution for those that would like an opportunity to explore New Zealand and become immersed in the culture of New Zealand. There are several sites that can help you secure a temporary position as well as negotiate the visa application process.

Rules for finding a permanent job

New Zealand isn’t only ideal for students searching for a working holiday, it’s also a perfect place for those seeking for a permanent position. New Zealand seeks out highly skilled employees to assist with their burgeoning economy. To attain a permanent position, an individual must have a current work permit. The process of getting a work permit is a collaborative effort between the employee and the employer.

Any one can apply for a position in New Zealand. As you investigate some of the job prospects in New Zealand, you’ll find that there are a high percentage of technical and highly skilled positions. New Zealand employers make every effort to find qualified New Zealanders to fill the position, but New Zealand has such a robust and growing high tech economy that there are more positions than qualified employees. These positions fall under the Skilled Migrant category. You can find potential permanent positions at a variety of immigration w/job work sites like www.newjobz.co.nz.

When you are offered a permanent job in New Zealand both you and your future employer work together to obtain the necessary work permits. Before long, you’ll be living in paradise with a full-time job of your dreams. Immigrate to New Zealand with a Job!
